MathWorks are a leading developer of mathematical computing software for engineers and scientists. Founded in 1984, MathWorks employs 2800 people in 15 countries, with headquarters in Natick, Massachusetts, U.S.A.
Create were chosen to complete both phases of MathsWorks facilities in Cambridge Business Park, Cavendish House and Matrix House, the total space accumulating to 48,000 sq ft.
The brief was to execute the design using the MathWorks Corporate Standards Guidelines ensuring that the standards were accurately interpreted and implemented, this was a key deliverable for the project.
Cavendish House was a new building adjacent to Matrix House which MathsWorks had acquired, Create worked on the development of the design proposals and delivery of this project for MathsWorks.
Matrix House required extensive refurbishment due to the soon to be obsolete mechanical systems, at the same time MathWorks wanted to bring the building up to date in line with their current Corporate Design Standards. Similar to the Cavendish House Fit-out, the brief was to execute the space planning and design using the MathWorks corporate standards guidelines.
Create worked upfront with the client to develop comprehensive Employers Requirements documentation moving onto the technical delivery and site support stages of the project.

When we work with a new designer we often have a learning curve to get on the same page regarding the approach to our program. We felt from day one that you picked up our style and adapted very quickly to engage and bring our standards to life.
In particular, our desire to have a pantry area that upon entrance felt open and inviting was a great success. You have been able to keep our functional requirements in place while adjusting a few architectural components and have really made this space feel great.
Most important in working with us as we say is to manage us to keep the project on the time-line. Again, we felt you quickly picked up the right tempo in identifying decisions we needed to make and guided us through the design development phase.
Overall, we had a great experience working with you on this project and look forward to working with you again on the next phase of our work in Cambridge.
